EVENT
The 34th Annual Conference and New Product Design Competition is sponsored by the Alliance of Plastics Processors, formerly the Structural Plastics Division, a business unit of The Society of the Plastics Industry.

ATTENDEE PROFILE
Attendees are nationally and internationally comprised of OEMs, industrial designers, manufacturing engineers, tooling engineers, product development managers, mold makers, equipment and technology providers, material suppliers, processor sales and marketing managers.

NEW PRODUCT DESIGN COMPETITION
The New Product Design Competition is a display of parts showcasing the latest in molding processes in various market categories. The design competition gives the attendee the opportunity to review product entries 'hands-on", and provides a venue for companies to answer questions related to part design, process selection, tooling, prototyping, materials selection, finishing and assembly. We encourage presenters to enter a part into the design competition that complements your technical paper and to provide attendees with a first-hand look at your theories in practice. (The New Product Design Competition entry forms and past competition winners may be viewed at the APP website: www.plasticparts.org.)

PAPER SELECTION
The program committee determines the acceptance of papers and the placement of those papers within the program. Papers proposed for the conference are accepted on the assumption that the author(s) and their organization commit to meeting the deadlines and having a presenter deliver the paper at the conference. Authors will be notified via email on or before January 20, 2006, of the acceptance of their paper.

PAPER DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 27, 2006
All selected authors will be required to submit a final, electronic document provided in a portable document format (pdf) by February 27, 2006. It is APP policy to publish all papers presented at the conference in the conference proceedings. If a paper does not meet conference deadlines or guidelines, APP retains the right to omit it from publication and it becomes ineligible for conference awards. Authors or their selected presenters will also be asked to make a 30-minute presentation of the paper at the conference in Columbus and to answer questions from attendees.

The final paper or presentation submission and speaker bio should be forwarded Attention: Karen Miles, APP via email: kmiles@socplas.org, or mail to Karen Miles, Alliance of Plastics Processors c/o Society of the Plastics Industry, 1667 K Street, N.W., Suite 1000, Washington, DC 20006-1620.

AWARDS
Papers published in the conference proceedings will be eligible for the Best Paper Award or Best Paper Runner Up Award. These awards are presented to the authors who have meet all the criteria as provided in the Author Paper Guidelines and provide the most informative, non-commercial presentation in the conference program.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • Each presenter may use a company logo on the presentation material only. Only one use of trademark may be used on entrance or exit slide. Other statements or symbols of a commercial nature are not permitted.
